One of the first projects I undertook when training as an illustrator (while I was a web designer) was to create a series of illustrations for the novels by my favourite author, Haruki Murakami. They always proved popular, and a number of people wanted art prints of them, but I wasn't ready to start selling illustration; I hadn't really found my style, and I was busy enough with my day job.
A few years later, when I was much more comfortable with my illustrations skills, and looking into the possibility of turning it into a real career, I decided to redo these Haruki Murakami novel illustrations. I popped them up on my Etsy store (opened years before but never used), and they became some of my first ever sales, long before A Rose Cast was born.
Fast-forward to now and the art prints still remain some of my most popular items. They've even been featured in Madras Press's Haruki Murakami Slow Reader Magazine along with a number of other artists and illustrators who have created artwork inspired by the novels of Haruki Murakami.
You can get illustrations of all of his novels currently published in English; hopefully before too much longer, I'll be adding Killing Commendatore.
So if you have any friends who are Murakami devotees, or if you love his imaginative, surrealist tales yourself, go grab yourself and art print or two. Popped into a frame, these watercolour art print of his novels are the perfect way to brighten up a literature geek or bibliophile's walls. you can buy both A6 and A4 versions of the prints separately, or if you want the full pack of the 13 postcards, you can get them for a special price.
